Lady, a charming and talented springerdoodle (Sproodle for short), is more than just a therapy dog—she’s a beacon of joy, comfort, and connection.

Since November 2023, Lady has been volunteering alongside her owner Rebecca with the charity Pet Respect, visiting care homes and schools across the region.

Her mission? To spread kindness, one paw at a time.

With a gentle nature and an instinctive ability to connect with people, Lady has become a beloved figure among residents and students alike.

Her presence alone can lift spirits, but it’s her remarkable personality and entertaining tricks that truly make her unforgettable.

Lady can play the piano and drums, push a shopping trolley, tidy up her toys, do the laundry, and even answer questions using her talking buttons.

Her performances are eagerly anticipated, with everyone wondering what surprise she’ll pull from Rebecca’s bag next.

Lady’s journey into therapy work began with her natural love for people. She greets everyone she meets with warmth and enthusiasm, often drawing smiles from strangers and comforting those in need. Her gentle interactions with Rebecca’s elderly grandmother first sparked the idea that Lady might be perfect for therapy work.

That intuition was confirmed during her formal assessment, where she not only passed with flying colours but amazed the assessor by showing concern when a walking stick was dropped—checking to see if the person was okay, a gesture rarely seen in dogs.

Her impact has been profound. Lady has helped non-verbal children find their voice, calmed distressed residents, and brought laughter to those facing difficult days.

One care home resident, who rarely engaged with others, found joy and connection through Lady’s visits.

Another child with autism, overwhelmed by a tough moment, instantly calmed upon seeing Lady and even helped guide her safely through the school hall.

Despite her many talents, Lady is still a dog at heart—especially when it comes to treats. Her love for snacks has led to a few challenges, including a vet-advised diet after indulging in too many rewards during her visits.

Rebecca now carefully balances Lady’s treat intake while ensuring she still feels appreciated for the incredible work she does.

Lady’s story is shared regularly on Instagram (@lady_the_springerdoodle), where her adventures continue to inspire and uplift.

Whether she’s performing tricks, comforting a resident, or simply wagging her tail in greeting, Lady is a true example of how small acts of kindness—especially those delivered with paws—can make a big difference.
